A Grammy Award winning singer, songwriter, dancer, record producer and philanthropist, Shakira is considered by many as a superstar of international proportions. Her most recent notable performance, during the closing ceremonies of the 2010 World Cup, was watched by millions of fans around the world. The Columbian-born songstress now makes her debut in the Palm Springs, California area with one very special performance at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino. Tickets for Shakira’s first Palm Springs concert go on sale Saturday, September 11th at 10am. Tickets are $69-$159 and may be purchased in person at the Fantasy Springs Box Office, via telephone at (800) 827-2946 or online at http://www.fantasyspringsresort.com/ or http://www.tickets.com/.

Shakira emerged onto the Latin American music scene in the mid 1990s. Her first two album starts are said to have had little commercial success. After dropping the local Columbian producers used for those albums, Shakira set out to produce her own style of music, according to BMI.com. Her third album helped shape Shakira into a household name in Latin America and in Spain. She rooted herself as an international star with the 2001 release of her album Laundry Service, which produced the best selling song of the century to date, “Hips Don’t Lie,” according to prefixmag.com. Shakira is a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador and her Barefoot Foundation works to help children in third world countries receive educations.
