It's official now. Columbian pop singer, Shakira is all set to perform in India for the very first time on March 25 this year at MMRDA grounds, Bandra Kurla Complex in Mumbai.
Shakira's performance is a part of her promotional tour for her latest album, Oral Fixation. She has co-written most of the songs of the album, which is her second English language album.
She is said to be performing on hits like Hips Don't Lie, Whenever, Wherever and Don't Bother. Having sold close to 40 million copies of her music worldwide, Shakira is eyeing the Indian music market for her latest and forthcoming releases.
'Oral Fixation comes from the fact that I have always lived through my mouth,' Shakira said. 'It is my biggest source of pleasure and my most accessible vehicle to discover and enjoy the world.'
'I am fixated on chocolate. I am fixated on the spoken word, the written word, the things I have said and the things I should never have said. This is the reason why I decided to name the album, Oral fixation,' said the singer.
Shakira dominated the Latin Grammy awards 2006 winning four trophies, including album of the year for Fijacion Oral Volume 1, song-cum-record of the year honours for La Tortura.
Shakira has won Grammy awards in 2001 and 2003. Tickets to the concert are priced at Rs 2,650 and Rs 3,650. The ticket price includes service charges like advance booking, bar coding and bar code checking. Tickets will be available at all Planet M outlets. Tickets can also be booked online at www.ticketpro.com.
